My journey into the world of neurodiversity began the day my son was born—and it hasn’t been an easy one.  I asked teachers, doctors, even daycare staff if something was wrong with my son; everyone said he was “fine” … until he suddenly wasn’t. I felt lost when he missed milestones, struggled in daycare, and was eventually identified with learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism.

I discovered most of the support that exists by accident.  I didn’t know the difference between public and private daycares other than the cost. Every step felt like guesswork, and every wrong turn cost us precious time. What I did learn is that every family with neurodivergent children experience similar issues in that information and resources are difficult to come by. Some families only find out that their child is neurodivergent in elementary school and are left scrambling, trying to figure out where to go from here.

I created Shine a Light Consulting so other families don’t have to learn the hard way. Today, I combine my business training, education background, and lived experience to give parents what I wish I’d had: a clear, step‑by‑step map, honest answers, and a steady hand to hold throughout the process. Whether you’re worried about missed milestones, confused by school options, or overwhelmed by assessments and funding forms, I’m here to light the path so you can focus on what matters most—your child’s growth and happiness.
